The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak is a traditional 17th century, family-run country inn, right on the famous Offa’s Dyke Path and overlooked by Hergest Ridge on the England/Wales border. A cosy and inviting, family- and dog-friendly pub, the Royal Oak offers delicious, home-cooked food using local produce with a brilliant selection of local beers, cask-conditioned ales, ciders, wines & spirits served by landlords Dave and Sarah.

Yellowhammers and willow warblers are both summer visitors to the skies above the beer garden, and the cries of circling Buzzards and Red Kites can be heard intermingling with the song of the skylarks.

For walkers, we’re the only pub directly on the Offa’s Dyke Path between Hay-on-Wye and Kington — some 10 miles (about four hours’ walking time) from Hay-on-Wye in the south, and four-and-a-half miles (about two hours’ walking time) from Kington, just over the border in Herefordshire.
